Happy Sunday everyone!  Sorry I have not blogged in a few days but it has been a crazy week.  I was up all night for a few days with a sick dog and just couldn’t get blog posts done.  But I’m back!

Today’s project is for a friend who turned 40 and that is a milestone that deserves something extra special.  I decided to make one of those pop up box cards so she will get an extra surprise when opening the card.  These cards look complicated but are actually quite easy to put together.

I debated over what objects to use inside the box – balloons, flowers, animals?!?!  So many choices but decided on flowers.  I like how it turned out and hope you do too.

I used a Crumb Cake base and layered with the English Garden DSP.  This is honestly such a versatile package of paper with so many beautiful designs.  For the flowers I used the Petite Petals stamp set and punch.  I fussy cut the leaves from the stamp set Crazy About You after stamping them in Wild Wasabi on Whisper White cardstock.
The biggest challenge with these types of cards is always getting all he pieces to close inside and creating something to keep it closed.  I find belly bands to work best and created one for this card using burlap ribbon with a strip of the same DSP found inside the card.

I really hope my friend gets a nice surprise in the mail when she opens this card.  Hopefully she knows that 40 is the new 30!  Someone remind of that when I turn 40!
