I have been doing a lot of watercoloring and trying to get better at the technique.  I have found that I do my best watercoloring on images that have been heat embossed as opposed to free hand watercoloring.  I really love the look of watercolor and plan to keep practicing to improve my skills in this technique.

For today’s card, I used the hostess set called “Best Thoughts” that has this gorgeous flower image which is perfect to practice watercoloring.  I used Wisteria Wonder and Bermuda Bay inks to create the soft contrast of color in the petals.  For the stem and leaves, I used Garden Green and Wild Wasabi.

After finishing the main image, I struggled with how to use it on a card.  I created the background using the Watercolor Wash background stamp with Wisteria Wonder ink.  I felt like it needed something else so I flicked…wait is flicked a word??  Anyway, I flicked some gold ink that I watered down all over the background.  I then layered this piece with some gold foil paper.  I thought the strip of vellum softened up the look and hello, do you not love the font used in the sentiments in the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  So gorgeous!
Here is the finished card:
Over the next few weeks we will be moving.  I am trying to pack my crafting supplies up at the very last minute so I can continue to create during this chaotic time.  I need my creative time to keep me from going crazy, and wine, always wine.  So bare with me if I don’t post as often or am able to do videos.  I will be back in full business come November.
As always, thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!
