Happy New Year stampers!! I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful new year celebration. We went to a super fun party and enjoyed bringing in 2016 with some of our favorite friends. I’ll have to admit I had a bit of a champagne headache yesterday so was lazy and did not get into the stamp room. I got some time to stamp today since my husband is out riding his motorcycle with a friend.
For today’s project I wanted to make a shaker card as those are all the rage right now and I don’t seem to make many, if not any at all. I am by no means a shaker card expert so my original plan did not work but I’m ok with how the final project ended up looking. This is actually a pretty simple card to make after I realized my first idea wasn’t going to work.
I absolutely adore this designer series paper from the holiday catalog called Into the Woods. It is on sale right now so you better go stock up before it’s gone. (3 days until the new Occasions Catalog!!! EEEKKK!!!) I used the circle collection framelits to cut the shaker circle out of tangelo twist and the DSP. I cut out the hello sentiment from the greetings thinlits in tangelo twist as well and layered that between the DSP and tangelo twist cardstock.
When I make shaker cards, I use fun foam to give a uniform solid support to the shaker piece instead of using dimensionals to create the shape where the sequins will be. Confused? Yeah, I wasnt sure how to explain that in words so hopefully you get what I’m saying. Behind the tangelo twist layer is a piece of fun foam cut a little smaller with the same size circle cut out. After adding the sequins, I glued that onto a piece of thick whisper white card base. I stamped the acorn using the Acorny Thank You stamp set with corresponding punch.
It looks like I’ll be getting my Occasions Catalog order this Thursday so stay tuned for a video showcasing all the amazing goodies I ordered. I can’t wait to start playing with them!! So excited!
