Hello there stampers! It’s Saturday morning and I’ve got all the essentials – cup of coffee, Meeko on my lap, and tons of card making ideas to keep me busy for hours. I might even break out the watercolors and do some practice from the online watercolor class I have been taking. Practice makes perfect right?!?!
I have another Mojo Monday card challenge here for you and this time I am going to make the deadline for submission! This week’s sketch is a square card, which I never seem to make cards in this shape, so I was excited to give it a try. I have several friends who are having babies this spring so I am in need of some baby cards and I knew I wanted to use the chick from the Sale-a-bration catalog stamp set Honeycomb Happiness. I absolutely adore this little chick and love to watercolor him.
I mean really, how cute is this little guy?!?! I stamped the chick onto some watercolor paper with basic black archival ink with is waterproof so won’t bleed when applying water. I colored him using hello honey, tangelo twist, and a bit of blushing bride inks.
The rest of the card was super easy to pull together. I made a 4×4 card base from crumb cake cardstock and layered a piece of DSP from the Love Blossoms Paper Stack from the Occasions Catalog. I seem to be using this paper stack more now that Valentine’s Day is over so don’t let all the heart designs in the paper discourage you from using it on all types of cards. I cut a strip of crumb cake cardstock and embossed it with a retired heart embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set Happy Happenings onto some whisper white and cut that out with a die from Lawn Fawn.
That little heart was punched out with the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and I covered it with lots of Wink of Stella. I really like how this card came together. It was super easy to make and I think I’ll make a few more so I have plenty for all these new babies coming into the world!
