Hi there stampers! I could not wait to get creating with all my new goodies that came in the mail yesterday from the new SU 2016-2017 Catalog. I was having some stamper’s block and couldn’t find my mojo after being on vacation. The best way to help get the creative juices flowing, besides a glass of wine, is to try one of the card challenges. Well I didn’t stop with just one and instead combined two for today’s card. This card is for both Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge 447 and Color Throwdown Color Challenge 392. If you have never joined a challenge or are a regular submitter, these are both great challenges to try. Here are the challenge inspirations:
When I saw that blue in the color throwdown, I knew this was my opportunity to use my first new In Color – Dapper Demin! I am so in love with these new colors. I also thought this was a great idea to try out the new thinlits called Swirly Scribbles. There are so many beautiful and intricate thinlits in the new catalog.
For the background, I used the stamp set Bohemian Borders and stamped several at a time using my MISTI with basic gray ink. I layered this onto a card base of dapper denim. I then cut out the swirly circles in dapper denim and the long wave pattern in basic gray. I adhered these onto the card front using Elmer’s adhesive spray. I just got a bottle of that stuff and wow does it make adhering die cuts super easy.
For my pop of the kraft color, I cut out a crumb cake piece measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches and glued that onto the card front. I then stamped the sentiment in dapper denim onto some whisper white cardstock. The sentiment is from one of the new hostess stamp sets called Time of Year. As a demo we get to not only order products from the new catalog a month before everyone else, but we also can purchase the hostess sets without having to make a qualifying order. But who am I kidding, my pre-order well surpassed the qualifying order minimum. 🙂
The sentiment was layered onto a piece of dapper denim cardstock and popped up onto the card front with dimensionals. I really like how this card turned out and I love, love, love all the new products I used.
Thanks for stopping by! Back to the stamp room to continue to play with my new goodies!
