Happy Friday stampers! For today’s card I played along with another online card challenge for the Paper Pal Arts 300th sketch challenge. I have been continuing to create with my new goodies from SU but also I wanted to use the new painted word dies that I picked up from Simon Says Stamp a couple weeks ago. I just love the font on these word dies and had to have them even though they are not Stampin Up.
I started with a piece of night of navy cardstock because I knew I wanted to use some of the gorgeous DSP called Affectionally Yours from the new 2016-2017 SU Catalog. I wanted to give the background some interest so I pulled out my new stitched border dies from Lawn Fawn. I love the faux stitching patterns each of these dies gives so I used them all together to get the pattern you see on the night of navy cardstock. I layered this onto a card base of cucumber green. I then cut a strip of DSP that was 2 x 5 1/2 inches and then layered this onto some cucumber green cardstock cut at 2 1/4 x 5 1/2.
After getting that layout complete I struggled with finishing the card. I had already previously cut out the swirly circle in some tip top taupe previously hoping to use it on the card but I just couldn’t get the flowers I die cut out to look right. I then decided a die cut sentiment might look cute and I had been dying to use my new painted dies from Simon Says Stamp. So I cut out the hello die twice from cucumber crush and glued them together. I cut out a piece of vellum using the new Square Layering Thinlits and glued this onto the strip of DSP using Ken Oliver Stick It adhesive. I then glued the swirly circle onto the vellum and popped the sentiment up on that with some dimensionals that I cut down to fit.
For a finishing touch I added some rhinestones and that finished the card. I really like this color combo – Night of Navy and Cucumber Crush. The Affectionally Yours DSP goes perfect with these two colors and might just be my favorite DSP of all time. I have a feeling I’ll be hoarding this paper so need to buy some more!
What are your plans for the weekend? I hope to spend more much needed time in my craft room. Thanks for stopping by!
