Happy President’s Day stampers! Sorry I have not been very active lately but I just stated a new job and have been making adjustments. I have been commuting into an office instead of my normal working from home so I haven’t had much time for stamping. Lucky me though I already got a day off for the holiday so I spent some time in my craft room playing with a few new goodies I got.
For today’s card I decided to play around with a few new items I ordered from the 2017 Occasions Catalog from Stampin Up. I used the Special Reason Bundle and watercolor pencils along with the painted hugs die from Simon Says Stamp.
I started with some watercolor paper and stamped the flower images in daffodil delight inks and then used my aqua painter to add color from a calypso coral watercolor pencil. This gave me a gorgeous watercolor look to the flowers with little effort or skill. It’s super easy to use your aqua painter to blend the watercolor pencil with the already stamped image on watercolor paper. Next I used the coordinating dies to cut out the flowers. I also scribbled the old olive and bermuda bay pencil onto an area of the watercolor paper and just blended with the my aqua painter. I used this area to cut out the stem and leaves.
I took a piece of whisper white and blended on some pool party ink and then added splatters of black and silver inks. I then adhered the flowers to the panel and add this to a basic black top folding A2 card base with a strip of DSP. The DSP tied in the black ink splatters and the black die cut sentiment. The “hugs” sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp and I cut it out 3 times and adhered all the die cuts together for a chipboard effect.
I am in love with these watercolor pencils and this bundle. The pencils are so easy to blend and the colors match the Stampin Up inks perfectly. The Special Reason bundle has the most gorgeous flower images and the coordinating die cuts make cutting out the images a breeze.
