Well hi there stampers!  Wow, it has been a really long time since I’ve posted to my blog and my apologies for that.  I have been having some issues with my blog that have gotten temporarily fixed but will be doing a complete re-haul of my website in the spring (hopefully sooner!).  I am on a waiting list for an amazing company to come in and spruce things up a bit here.

I am fairly active on my Instagram account though and post cards more frequently there.  So if you don’t follow me on social media, be sure to follow The Stamp Cycle on Instagram and Facebook so you don’t miss any of my card creations.

For today’s card I am showcasing the beautiful stamp set Magical Mermaid.  I didn’t order this stamp set when it came out in the catalog but have been looking at it over and over.  I broke down recently and purchased it which I am so very happy about.  I am in love with this stamp set!

I did a lot of watercoloring with Tanquil Tide and Bermuda Bay inks.  I heat embossed the mermaid in gold embossing powder onto some scrap watercolor paper and then used my ink pads to color her in.  For the main background, I played with various concentrations of the ink with water and got this really cool look for the finished product.  I encourage you to grab some watercolor paper and some of your Stampin Up reinkers and just play around!  I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with this background at first and the more I played around with it, the more I liked it.  I am very happy with the finished card.
I stamped the seaweed image with some Smoky Slate ink along with the bubble image onto the background.  I also did some ink splatters and heat embossed the sentiment with that same gold embossing power.
